The Eurovision Song Contest, often called Eurovision, is organized by the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) and has been held annually since 1956 -- making it the longest-running international music competition on television (except for 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic). It was originally designed to unite European countries through live televised music, but now nations outside Europe are invited to participate as well.

Eurovision is often described as the “Olympics of pop music”, attracting a global audience of over 180 million viewers. The Swedish Club of Houston is co-hosting (along with the Houston Saengerbund) a Eurovision Song Contest Watch Party on Saturday, May 16 beginning at 2:00 PM; all of the participating Nordic and Germanic clubs in Houston have been invited!
